A pin lug fitting is an economical and convenient coupling set for light duty liquid suction and discharge applications. It is normally provided in aluminum with a brass female swivel and makes a seal with a high quality lathe cut ozone free EPDM swivel gasket. The coupling can be tightened by hand or with a simple pin lug spanner wrench (smaller sizes have lug on the female side only).

NPSM Threads
The National Standard Free-Fitting Straight Mechanical Pipe Thread is the standard thread used for many applications and is commonly known as Fire Hose Threads. It is the same thread size and pitch as NPT, but it does not have a taper like NPT does. This means the female swivel will swivel onto the male until it bottoms out against the washer, pulling the coupler set tight to form a seal.

NST/NH Threads
The standard thread for fire hose is NST, which is an abbreviation for National Standard Thread or National Hose Thread and is also used for Chemical Hose Thread. It is the same thread as NPSM, but has a different seal. That seal is the Buna-N Gasket found inside the Female Coupler of these NPSM Pin and Lug hose ends.
