The camlock coupling, commonly referred to as a Cam and Groove Coupling or Cam lock fitting, is a quick connect system used in many industries to couple hoses. The system requires no thread sealants and is extremely easy to use. By simply extending the arms, or handles, of the male adaptor and then closing them on the female coupling, a rubber gasket is compressed forming a positive seal that prevents fluid leakage. This unique feature makes it ideal for use in applications involving frequent connection and disconnection, such as with petroleum or industrial chemical trucks.
Camlocks can be made in a variety of different materials to meet the needs of varying environments. Stainless steel SS316 couplings are most common but there are also options available in high purity brass and corrosion resistant polyethylene (PP). In addition to this there are special specialised camlocks that are coated with ECTFE or PFA to protect against highly concentrated and aggressive chemicals as well as temperatures above 150°C.
Added Extras A range of additional accessories are available for camlock couplings, these include security chains that allow you to secure the handles of two mating camlocks together so they cannot be separated or lost. This is an essential safety feature for processes involving flammable or toxic chemicals. Also available are Dust Caps and Dust Plugs that can be connected to the same camlock they connect to, this allows them to be easily located and kept sealed, keeping processes dust free.
