Camlock fittings, also known as cam and groove couplings, provide a quick and reliable way of connecting hoses and pipes. They are available in a wide range of materials and sizes, ensuring they can be used for a variety of applications.
Cam and groove fittings consist of a male adaptor and a female coupler that fit together to connect two pipes. The fittings are simple to install and require no tools to use. They are widely used in the automotive, agricultural, oil and gas, military, and sanitation industries.
Installation: To connect a camlock fitting to a hose, the appropriate male plug should be inserted into the female coupler, and then the handles of both halves should be closed simultaneously. This pushes the grooved plug down onto the seal in the female end, firmly locking the fitting in place and creating a leak-proof assembly. Size compatibility: To ensure a secure connection, camlock fittings should be selected according to the pipe or hose they are paired with. Using a smaller or larger fitting can lead to leakage and other problems.
Material compatibility: To prevent chemical reactions and corrosion, camlock fittings and hoses should be made of compatible materials. For example, stainless steel camlock fittings cannot be used with aluminum pipes as they can cause galvanic corrosion.
Safety locks: To increase security and avoid accidental disconnection, the male adapter should be plugged with an R-Clip before it is inserted into the female coupler. These clips, also called a hairpin cotter pin, come standard with all female couplers.
